In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Daddan Mishra of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was elected from the Shrawasti constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He won with 3,45,964 votes defeating Atiq Ahmad of the Samajwadi Party by a margin of 85,913 votes.
In the 2009 parliamentary elections, Vinay Kumar of the Indian National Congress was elected with 2,01,556 votes (33.29 per cent of the total votes polled in the constituency). His closest opponent was Rizvan Zaheer of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), who received 1,59,527 votes (26.35 per cent).
The Shrawasti constituency came into existence in 2008 following delimitation.
There are five assembly seats under the Shrawasti constituency: Bhinga, Shrawasti, Tulsipur, Gainsari and Balrampur.
Voting for the Shrawasti constituency was conducted in the sixth phase of general elections 2019 on May 12.
For the 2019 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Daddan Mishra. Dhirendra Pratap Singh is contesting on an Indian National Congress (INC) ticket for the Shrawasti constituency.
