The Robertsganj Lok Sabha constituenc, which is reserved under the scheduled caste category, consists of Chakia, Ghorawal, Robertsganj, Obra and Duddhi assembly segments. Under this constituency the Chakia and Duddhi assembly seats fall under the scheduled caste category.
The constituency went to polls on May 19 in the seventh phase of 2019 general elections. The poll results will be released on May 23.
BJP's Chhotelal is the sitting MP from this constituency. In 2014 he defeated Sharada Prasad, the BSP nominated candidate in this seat by a margin of 190486. He is a member of the Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution. He was also a Member of the Standing Committee on Commerce and of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
This time the lok sabha elections will have Bhai Lal, who was the SP nominated candidate from this constituency along with INC's Bhagwati Prashad Chaudhari and CPI's Ashok Kumar Kannaujiya. They are among the 12 candidates who are in fray for the seat, of which are two independent candidates.
The General Elections of 2014 saw a total voter turnout of 1,639,561.
