In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Kunwar Bharatendra Singh was elected from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh on a BJP ticket. He received 4,86,913 votes. His closest opponent was Shahnawaz Rana from Samajwadi Party who received 2,81,139 votes.
In 1957, from Bijnor, which is considered to be a farmers stronghold, Abdul Lateef from Congress was elected to Parliament. The seat remained a Congress stronghold from 1967 to 1971.
In 1977, Mahilal from BLD was elected to parliament. In 1980, Mangal Ram from JNP was elected followed by Girdhar Lal from Congress in 1984. In 1989, Mayawati from BSP won the Bijnor seat. From 1991 to 1996, Mangalram Premi from BJP was elected to Parliament from Bijnor.
In 1998, Samajwadi Party candidate Omwati Devi was elected and in 1999 Shreeram Singh Ravi from BJP was elected. In 2004, Munshiram from RLD won while in 2009 Sanjay Singh Chauhan, also from RLD, was elected.
There are five assembly seats under the Bijnor Parliamentary constituency - Mirapur, Bijnor, Hastinapur, Chandpur, and Purqazi.
The General Election 2019 was conducted in the first phase, on April 11, in Bijnor. For the upcoming elections BJP has fielded its sitting MP Kunwar Bharatendra Singh. Naseemuddin Siddiqui will contest on a Congress ticket and Malook Nagar will contest on a ticket from BSP.
