The Mirzapur Lok Sabha constituency consists of Chhanbey, Mirzapur, Majhawan, Chunar and Marihan assembly segments. Under this constituency the Chhanbey assembly seat falls under the scheduled caste category.
The constituency went to polls on May 19 in the seventh phase of 2019 general elections. The poll results will be released on May 23.
AD's Anupriya Singh Patel is the sitting MP from this constituency. In 2014 she defeated Samudra Bind, the BSP nominated candidate in this seat by a margin of 219079. She is a Union Minister of State of the Mi istry of Health and Family Welfare. She was also a member of the Railway Convention Committee (RCC), Committee on the Welfare of Other Backward Classes, Consultative Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas, Consuktative Committee of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Shipping, and the Committee on Empowerment of Women.
This time the lok sabha elections will have Ram Charitra, who was the SP nominated candidate from this constituency along with INC's Laliteshpati Tripathi. They are among the nine candidates who are in fray for the seat.
The General Elections of 2014 saw a total voter turnout of 1,720,661.
