In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP's Kanwar Singh Tanwar was elected from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh. He received 5,28,880 votes. His closest opponent was Humeira Akhtar who contested on a ticket from Samajwadi party and received 3,70,666 votes.
Amroha is considered to be an important constituency in Uttar Pradesh. In 1957 and 1962, Hifzul Rahman from Congress was elected from Amroha. In 1967 and 1971 I. Sambhali from CPI was elected.
In 1977, Chandarpal Singh was elected on a ticket from BLD and in 1980 he was elected on a JNP (S) ticket.
In 1984, Ram Pal Singh was elected to parliament from Amroha on a Congress ticket. In 1989 JD candidate Har Govind was elected. In 1991, BJP's Chetan Chauhan was elected. In 1996, Pratap Singh was elected on an SP ticket. Then in 1998 Chetan Chauhan was elected again on BJP ticket.
In 2004, independent candidate Harish Nagpal was elected followed by RLD candidate Devendra Nagpal being elected in 2009.
There are five assembly segments in the Amroha parliamentary constituency. These include Dhanaura, Naugawan Sadat, Amroha, Hasanpur, and Garhmukteshwar.
In the General Elections 2019, BJP has fielded the sitting MP Kanwar Singh Tanwar from Amroha. Contesting against him are Kunwar Danish Ali, BSP, and Sachin Choudhary, Congress.
