In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate Dr. Ram Shankar Katheria was elected to parliament from Agra in Uttar Pradesh. Katheria won with a margin of 3,00,263 votes. He received 5,83,716 votes while his closest opponent, Narayan Singh Suman, BSP candidate, received 2,83,453 votes. The voter turnout in 2014 was 58.98 per cent.
Dr. Ram Shankar Katheria was elected to parliament from Agra in the 2009 General elections as well. In the 2009 elections, Katheria received 2,03,697 votes and won by a margin of 9715 votes only. The runner-up in 2009 elections was Kunwar Chand (Vakil) who received 1,93,982 votes. The voter turnout in 2009 was only 42.03 per cent.
From 1957 to 1971, the Agra seat remained with Seth Achal Singh of Congress. After that it went to Shambhu Nath Chaturvedi of BLD.
BJP first won the Agra seat in 1991 when BJP's Bhagwan Shanker Rawat was elected to Parliament. He went on to win from Agra in 1996 and 1998 as well.
Then in 1999 and 2004 the seat was won by Raj Babbar who contested on a Samajwadi Party ticket.
For the General Election 2019, Congress has fielded Preeta Harit, BSP has fielded Manoj Kumar Soni, and BJP has fielded Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel.
There are 5 Assembly seats under the Agra parliamentary constituency. These include Agra South, Agra cantt., Agra East, Etmadpur, and Jalser.
