In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Harinarayan Rajbhar was elected in Uttar Pradesh on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He won the Ghosi seat in Uttar Pradesh with 3,79,797 votes by a margin of 1,46,015 votes defeating Dara Singh Chauhan of the BSP, who received 2,33,782 votes.
The sitting MP is the member, standing committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forest. He is also the member of the consultative committee, Ministry of Chemical and Fertilizers.
In 2009, BSP candidate Dara Singh Chauhan won the elections with 2,20,695 votes defeating SP's candidate Arshad Jamal Ansari who received 1,59,750 votes. The overall margin between the two candidates was 60,945 votes.
There are five assembly seats under the Ghosi constituency which includes Madhuban, Ghosi, Muhammadabad- Gohna, Mau and Rasara.
There are total fifteen candidates out of which five are independent. Atul Kumar Singh Alias Atul Kumar Singh Anjaan from CPI, Atul Kumar Singh Alias Atul Rai from BSP, Balkrishna from INC and Harinarayan from BJP are among the key candidates.
In 2019, voting was conducted in the seventh phase on May 19 in Ghosi constituency of Uttar Pradesh. The Lok Sabha 2019 results will be announced on May 23.
