In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Keshav Prasad Maurya of the Bharatiya Janata Party was elected from the Phulpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He won with 5,03,564 votes defeating Dharam Raj Singh Patel of the Samajwadi Party by a margin of 3,08,308 votes. In the 2018 by-election, Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel of the Samajwadi Party won the constituency, Kaushalendra Singh Patel of the BJP by a margin of 59,460 votes.
In the 2009 general elections, Kapil Muni Karwariya of the Bahujan Samaj Party won the Phulpur constituency by securing 1,67,542 votes (30.36 per cent of the total votes polled in the constituency) , defeating Shyama Charan Gupta of the Samajwadi Party who received 1,52,964 votes (27.72 per cent).
There are five assembly seats under the Phulpur constituency: Phaphamau, Soraon, Phulpur, Allahabad West and Allahabad North.
Voting for the Phulpur constituency was conducted in the sixth phase of general elections 2019 on May 12.
For the 2019 general elections, Keshari Devi Patel from the Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting against Pankaj Patel of the Indian National Congress, and Pandhari Yadav of the Samajwadi Party.
