In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Niranjan Jyoti was elected from Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. She received 4,85,994 votes. Her closest opponent was Afzal Siddiqui from the BSP who received 2,98,788 votes. Niranjan Jyoti won the constituency by a margin of 1,87,206 votes.
In the 2009 general elections, the Fatehpur seat was won by Rakesh Sachan of the SP. In 2004 general elections, the Fatehpur parliamentary seat was won by Mahendra Prasad Nishad of the BSP and his runner up was Achal Singh of the SP.
Fatehpur parliamentary constituency consists of six Vidhan Sabha seats: Jahanabad, Bindki, Fatehpur, Ayah Shah, Husainganj and Khaga.
Voting for the Banda seat was concluded in the fifth phase of elections on May 6.
In the 2019 general elections, the BJP fielded Niranjan Jyoti. Rakesh Sachan is contesting on a Congress ticket and the Mahagathbandhan has fielded Sukhdev Prasad Verma on a BSP ticket.
