In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Rajesh Pandey Urf Guddu was elected in Uttar Pradesh on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He won the Kushi Nagar seat in Uttar Pradesh with 3,70,051 votes by a margin of 85,540 votes defeating Kunwar Ratanjit Pratap Narain Singh of the INC , who received 2,84 ,511 votes.
The current MP Rajesh Pandey is the present member of the Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture
He is also the member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
In 2009, INC candidate Kunwar Ratanjit Pratap Narain Singh won the elections with 2,23,954 votes defeating BSP's candidate Swami Prasad Maurya who received 2,02,860 votes. The overall margin between the two candidates was 21,094 votes.
There are four assembly seats under the Kushi Nagar constituency which includes Khadda, Padrauna, Kushinagar and Hata.
While this Lok Sabha seat is reserved for scheduled caste category includes Ramkola assembly is reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled caste category.
There are total fourteen candidates out of which six are independent. N.P. Kushwaha Alias Nathuni Prasad Kushwaha from SP, Kunwer Ratanjit Pratap Narayan Singh from INC and Vijay Kumar Dubey from Bharatiya Janata Party are among the key contestants.
In 2019, voting was conducted in the seventh phase on May 19 in Kushi Nagar constituency of Uttar Pradesh. The Lok Sabha 2019 results will be announced on May 23.
