In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Kalraj Mishra was elected in Uttar Pradesh on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He won the Deoria seat in Uttar Pradesh with 4,96,500 votes by a margin of 2,65,386 votes defeating Niyaj Ahmed of the BSP, who received 2,31 ,114 votes.
The sitting MP from Deoria constituency is the Chairperson, Joint Committee on Offices of Profit. He is also the chairperson in the standing committee of defence.
In 2009, BSP candidate Gorakh Prasad Jaiswal won the elections with 2,19,889 votes defeating BJP's candidate Shri Prakash Mani Tripathi who received 1,78,110 votes. The overall margin between the two candidates was 41,779 votes.
There are five assembly seats under the Deoria constituency which includes Deoria, Tamkuhi Raj, Fazilnagar, Pathardeva and Rampur Karkhana.
There are total eleven candidates out of which two are independent. Niyaz Ahmed from INC, Binod Kumar Jaiswal from BSP and Rampati Ram Tripathi from BJP are among the key contestants contesting for the Lok Sabha 2019 elections.
In 2019, voting was conducted in the seventh phase on May 19 in Deoria constituency of Uttar Pradesh. The Lok Sabha 2019 results will be announced on May 23.
