In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Bhairon Prasad Mishra was elected from Banda in Uttar Pradesh on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He received 3,42,066 votes. His closest opponent was RK Singh Patel from BSP who received 2,26,278 votes. Bhairon Prasad Mishra won the constituency by a margin of 1,15,788 votes.
In 2009 general elections, the Banda seat was won by RK Singh Patel of the SP. In 2004 general elections, the Banda parliamentary seat was won by Shyama Charan Gupta of the SP and his runner up was Ram Sanjeewan of the BSP.
The Banda parliamentary constituency consists of five Vidhan Sabha seats: Baberu, Naraini, Banda, Chitrakoot and Manikpur.
Voting for the Banda seat was concluded in the fifth phase of elections on May 6.
In the 2019 general elections, the BJP fielded RK Singh Patel, Balkumar Patel is contesting on a Congress ticket and the Mahagathbandhan has fielded Shyama Charan Gupta on an SP ticket.
