In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Pankaj Choudhary of the Bharatiya Janata Party was elected from the Maharajganj constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He won with 4,71,542 votes defeating Kashi Nath Shukla of the Bahujan Samaj Party by a margin of 2,40,458 votes.
In the 2009 general elections, Harsh Vardhan of the Indian National Congress won the Maharajganj constituency by securing 3,05,474 votes (36.40 per cent of the total votes polled in the constituency) , defeating Ganesh Shanker Pandey of the Bahujan Samaj Party who received 1,81,846 votes (21.67 per cent).
There are five assembly seats under the Maharajganj (UP) constituency: Pharenda, Nautanwa, Siswa, Maharajganj and Paniyara.
Voting for the Maharajganj constituency is due in the final phase of general elections 2019 on May 19.
For the 2019 general elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Pankaj Choudhary. He is contesting Supriya Shrinate of the Indian National Congress and Akhilesh Singh of the Samajwadi Party.
