In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Vinod Kumar Sonkar was elected from Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He received 3,31,724 votes. His closest opponent was Shailendra Kumar from the SP who received 2,88,824 votes. Vinod Kumar Sonkar won the constituency by a margin of 42,900 votes.
In the 2009 general elections, the Kaushambi seat was won by Shailendra Kumar of the SP. The Kaushambi constituency came into existence in 2008 as a part of the implementation of delimitation of parliamentary constituencies based on the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in 2002.
The Kaushambi parliamentary constituency consists of five Vidhan Sabha seats: Babaganj, Kunda, Sirathu, Manjhanpur and Chail.
Voting for the Kaushambi seat was concluded in the fifth phase of elections on May 6.
In the 2019 general elections, the BJP fielded Vinod Kumar Sonkar, the Congress party's candidate is Girish Pasi, and the Mahagathbandhan has fielded Indrajeet Saroj on an SP ticket.
