In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Rajesh Verma was elected from Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He received 4,17,546 votes. His closest opponent was Kaisar Jahan of BSP who received 3,66,519 votes. Rajesh Verma won the constituency by a margin of 51,027 votes.
In 2009 general elections Sitapur seat was won by Kaisar Jahan of BSP. In 2004 general elections, Sitapur parliamentary constituency was won by Rajesh Verma on the BSP ticket.
Sitapur parliamentary constituency consists of five Vidhan Sabha seats these are Biswan, Laharpur, Mahmoodabad, Sevata and Sitapur.
Voting for Sitapur seat was concluded in the fifth phase of elections on May 6.
In the 2019 general elections BJP has fielded Rajesh Verma, Congress candidate is Kaisar Jahan and BSP has fielded Nakul Dubey as a candidate of Mahagathbandhan.
