In 2014 General Election, Dr. Nepal Singh from BJP was elected to parliament from Rampur constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He received 3,58,616 votes. His closest opponent was Naseer Ahmad Khan from Samajwadi party who received 3,35,181 votes.
In the 2009 General Elections, Jaya Prada Nahata was elected from Rampur on a ticket from Samajwadi Party. She received 2,30,724 votes. Her closest opponent was Begum Noor Bano from Congress who received 1,99,793 votes.
In the 1957 and 1962 General Elections, Raja Syed Ahmad Mehdi of Congress was elected from Rampur. Then in 1967, N.S.Z.A. Khan from Swatantra Party was elected from Rampur.
In 1971, Zulfiquar Ali Khan was elected on a Congress ticket followed by election of Rajendra Kumar Sharma of BLD party in 1977.
In 1980, 1984, and 1989, Zulfiquar Ali Khan was elected again from Congress ticket. In 1991, Rajendra Kumar Sharma was elected on a ticket from BJP. Begum Noor Bano was elected on a Congress ticket in 1996. In 1998, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was elected on a BJP ticket. Begum Noor Bano was elected again in 1999 on a Congress ticket. In 2004, Jaya Prada Nahata was elected on SP ticket.
For the General Election 2019, Jaya Prada Nahata has been fielded by BJP while her former party SP has fielded Mohammad Azam Khan. Congress has fielded Sanjay Kapoor.
There are five assembly segments under the Rampur constituency. These include Chamraua, Rampur, Suar, Milak, and Bilaspur.
