Former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, who was expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), floated his own political front to contest in the assembly elections in Bihar. Not only are none of the other 20 candidates fielded by his party- the Janshakti Janta Dal (JJD)- either trailing or have lost, Tej Pratap Yadav has also lost from his constituency, ending a distant third.

Singh secured 87,641 votes, followed by Raushan, with 42,644 votes. Yadav polled only 35,703 votes, which is less than half of the winner.
