In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Priyanka Singh Rawat was elected from Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. She received 4,54,214 votes. Her closest opponent was PL Punia from the Congress who received 2,42,336 votes. Priyanka Singh Rawat won the constituency by a margin of 2,11,878 votes.
In the 2009 general elections, the Barabanki seat was won by PL Punia of the Congress. In 2004 general elections, the Barabanki parliamentary seat was won by Kamla Prasad of the BSP and his runner up was Ram Sagar of the SP.
The Barabanki parliamentary constituency consists of five Vidhan Sabha seats: Ram Nagar, Barabanki, Zaidpur, Haidergarh and Dariyabad.
Voting for the Barabanki seat was concluded in the fifth phase of elections on May 6.
In the 2019 general elections, the BJP fielded Upendra Singh Rawat, the Congress party's candidate is Tanuj Punia, and the Mahagathbandhan has fielded Ram Sagar Rawat on an SP ticket.
