In the 2014 General Election, Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma from BJP was elected form Jalaun constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He received 5,48,631 votes. His closest opponent was Brijlal Khabri from BSP who received 2,61,429 votes.
In the 2009 General Elections, Ghanshyam Anuragi from Samajwadi party was elected form Jalaun seat. He received 2,83,023 votes as opposed to his closest opponent Tilak Chandra Ahirwar, from BSP, who received a close 2,71,614 votes.
In the 1971 Lok Sabha election, Chowdhary Ram Sewak from Congress was elected from Jalaun which is reserved for scheduled caste candidates. In 1977 elections, Ramcharan was elected on a ticket from BLD. In 1980 General Election, Nathuram Shakyawar was elected on a ticket from INC (I).
In the 1984 general election, Lachhi Ram from INC was elected from Jalaun. In 1989, Ram Sewak Bhatiya was elected on a ticket from Janata Dal. Then in 1991 election, Gaya Prasad Kori from BJP was elected from this seat.
In 1996 and 1998 elections, Bhanu Pratap Singh from BJP won the Lok Sabha election from the Jalaun seat. In 1999, Brij Lal Khabri contested on a ticket from BSP and was elected from Jalaun. In the 2004 election, Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma returned to parliament from Jalaun on a ticket from BJP.
The 2019 General Election for Jalaun seat was held in the fourth phase. This time BJP again fielded Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma. His opponent from Congress party was Brijlal Khabri and from BSP was Ajay Singh (Pankaj).
There are five assembly segments under the Jalaun parliamentary constituency. These are Bhognipur, Madhogarh, Kalpi, Orai, and Garautha.
