Ghaziabad constituency in Uttar Pradesh came into existence in 2008. Since the 2009 General Election, Ghaziabad has been in the stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) whose candidates won in both the general elections of 2009 and 2014.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Retired General Vijay Kumar Singh was elected from Ghaziabad on a BJP ticket. He received a staggering 7,58,482 votes. His opponent Raj Babbar who contested on a Congress ticket received 1,91,222 votes. BSP candidate Mukul Upadhyay received 1,73,085 votes.
In the 2009 elections, BJP's Rajnath Singh was elected to Parliament from Ghaziabad.
There are five assembly seats under the Ghaziabad Parliamentary constituency. These include Sahibabad, Muradnagar, Ghaziabad, Dholana, and Loni.
The General Election 2019 will be conducted in the first phase, on April 11, in Ghaziabad. For the upcoming elections, Dolly Sharma from Congress and Suresh Bansal from Samajwadi Party will contest against the sitting MP VK Singh from BJP.
