In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Hari Om Pandey was elected from the Ambedkar Nagar constituency in Uttar Pradesh on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He won with 4,32,104 votes defeating Rakesh Pandey of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) by a margin of 1,39,429 votes.
In the 2009 parliamentary elections, Rakesh Pandey of the BSP was elected with 2,59,487 votes (32 per cent of the total votes polled in constituency). His closest opponent was Shankhlal Majhi of the Samajwadi Party, who received 2,36,751 votes (29.20 per cent).
The Ambedkar Nagar constituency came into existence in 2008 following delimitation.
There are five assembly seats under the Ambedkar Nagar constituency: Goshainganj, Katehari, Tanda, Jalalpur and Akbarpur.
Voting for the Ambedkar Nagar constituency was conducted in the sixth phase of general elections 2019 on May 12.
For the 2019 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Mukut Bihari, and the Bahujan Samaj Party fielded Ritesh Pandey.
