In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Kirti Vardhan Singh was elected from Gonda in Uttar Pradesh on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He received 3,59,639 votes. His closest opponent was Nandita Shukla from SP who received 1,99,227 votes. Kirti Vardhan Singh won the constituency by a margin of 1,60,412 votes.
In the 2009 general elections, the Gonda seat was won by Beni Prasad Verma on an SP ticket. In the 2004 general elections, the Gonda parliamentary seat was won by Kirti Vardhan Singh of the SP and his runner up was Ghanshyam Shukla of the BJP.
The Gonda parliamentary constituency consists of five Vidhan Sabha seats: Utraula, Gaura, Gonda, Mankapur and Mehnaun.
Voting for the Gonda seat was concluded in the fifth phase of elections on May 6.
In the 2019 general elections, the BJP fielded Kirti Vardhan Singh, the Congress party's candidate is Krishna Patel, and the Mahagathbandhan has fielded Vinod Kumar alias Pandit Singh on an SP ticket.
