Gumla, a Scheduled Tribes (ST) reserved constituency, voted on November 30, during the first phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections 2019.
In the 2014 elections, Shivshankar Oraon of the BJP defeated Bhushan Tirkey of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM). Mr Bhogta was polled 50,473 votes while his nearest opponent secured 46,441 votes.
For the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections in this constituency, candidates in the fray include Mishir Kujur (BJP), Bhushan Tirkey( Jharkhand Mukti Morcha or JMM), Rajneel Tigga (Jharkhand Vikas Morcha -Prajatantrik), Pradeep Oraon (Janata Dal - United), Saroj Hemrom (Jharkhand Party), and Nilambar Prakash Bhagat (Bhartiya Tribal Party).
Gumla Assembly constituency is part of the Lohardaga Lok Sabha segment which is currently represented by Sudarshan Bhagat of the BJP. Result for the Gumla Assembly election will be announced on December 23.
In 2009 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Kamlesh Oraon of BJP defeated Bhushan Tirkey of JMM Gumla Assembly constituency.
