Jarmundi Assembly seat is one of the 81 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Jharkhand. People from the constituency voted on December 20 - the last day of the 2019 Assembly election in the state.
Polling was held in Jarmundi along with Borio, Barhait, Litipara, Pakaur, Maheshpur, Sikaripara, Dumka, Jama, Rajmahal, Nala, Jamtara, Sarath, Poreyahat, Godda and Mahagama constituencies.
Votes will be counted on December 23.
The Jarmundi Assembly seat comes under the Godda Lok Sabha constituency.
Congress had won this seat in 2014 defeating Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). Harinarayan Ray, a two-time MLA from Jarmundi, was defeated by Congress candidate Badal in the last election by a margin of 2,708 votes.
Mr Ray had contested for the Jarmundi seat as an independent candidate twice in 2005 and 2009.
In 2014 he contested on a JMM ticket. In 2014, 1,49,726 votes were registered in this constituency of which 2,866 were under NOTA.
