Jharkhand's Chatra, a seat reserved for contestants from the Scheduled Castes (SC) category, voted on November 30, during the first phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections 2019.
In the 2014 elections, Jay Prakash Singh Bhogta of the BJP defeated Satyanand Bhokta of the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM). Mr Bhogta got 69,745 votes while his nearest opponent secured 49,169 votes.
For the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections in Chatra constituency, candidates in the fray include Janardan Paswan (BJP), Satyanand Bhokta (RJD), Tileshwar Ram (JVM), Goutam Ravidas (BSP).
Chatra Assembly constituency is part of the Chatra Lok Sabha segment which is currently represented by Sunil Kumar Singh of the BJP.
Results for the Chatra Assembly elections will be announced on December 23.
In 2009 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Janardan Paswan of RJD defeated Subedar Paswan of BJP in Chatra Assembly constituency.
