Kharsawan (ST), a reserved constituency, voted on December 7, during the second phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections 2019.
In the 2014 elections, Dashrath Gagrai of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) defeated Arjun Munda of the BJP. Mr Gagrai got 72,002 votes while his nearest opponent secured 60,036 votes.
For the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections in this constituency, candidates in the fray Jingi Hembrom (Jharkhand Party), Dashrath Gagrai (JMM), Mangal Singh Hasda (Peoples Party of India - Democratic), Ram Honhaga (Jharkhand Vikas Morcha - Prajatantrik), Jawahar Lal Banra (BJP), Jaymohan Sardar (Amra Bangalee), Jemsh Hembrom (Bahujan Samaj Party or BSP), Sanjay Jarika (AJSU Party), Kande Ram Kurli (Janata Party) and Kunvar Sinh Banra (Janata Dal - United).
Kharsawan Assembly constituency is part of the Khunti Lok Sabha segment which is currently represented by Arjun Munda of the BJP.
Result for the Kharsawan Assembly elections will be announced on December 23.
In 2009 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Mangal Singh Soy of BJP defeated Basko Besra of INC in Kharsawan Assembly constituency.
