Torpa Assembly seat is a part of Gumla-Singhbhum region in Jharkhand. 96 per cent population in Torpa is rural and 4 per cent is urban.

For the 2019 Assembly Elections in Jharkhand, BJP has fielded Koche Munda, JVM(P) has fielded Ishwardutt Marshal Mundu, and JMM has fielded Sudeep Guria.
