The sitting MLA from Khijri seat is Ramkumar Pahan from BJP who was elected to the Legislative Assembly in the 2014 Jharkhand Assembly Elections. He received 94,581 votes. His closest opponent was Sundri Devi, who fought the election on a ticket from Congress and received 29,669 votes.
In 2009 Jharkhand Assembly Elections, Sawna Lakra was elected from Khijri seat on a ticket from INC. He received 41,172 votes. His closest opponent was Ram Kumar Pahan who had fought on a ticket from BJP and received 38,394 votes.
For the 2019 Assembly Elections in Jharkhand, BJP has fielded the sitting MLA Ramkumar Pahan, Congress has fielded Rajesh Kachhap, and AJSUP has fielded Ramdhan Bediya.
