Pakaur constituency is one of the 81 Vidhan Sabha seats of Jharkhand. It comes under the Rajmahal Lok Sabha constituency.
The Pakaur constituency voted on December 20 - the last phase of assembly election in Jharkhand.
Out of the three elections held for the nomination to the legislative assembly in this constituency, two have been won by the Congress party.
In 2014, Alamgiri Alam won the Pakaru seat defeating Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Akil Akhtar. Congress won the seat by a margin of 18,066 votes. In 2014, a total of 2,32,421 valid votes were registered from this constituency. Mr Alam was one of the 15 contenders for the Pakaur seat in 2014.
He had won the seat in 2005 as well. He had defeated BJP's Beni Prasad Gupta by a margin of 25,736 votes.
In 2009, JMM had won the Pakaur seat.
