Jharkhand's Barkagaon went to polls on December 12, during the third phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections 2019.
In the 2014 elections, Nirmala Devi of the Congress defeated Roshan Lal Chaudhary of the AJSU. Nirmala Devi had got 61,817 votes while her nearest opponent secured 61,406 votes.
For the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections in Barkagaon, candidates contesting include Bhuneshwar Pramanik (Ambedkarite Party of India), Pritam Singh (AIMIM), Sunil Kumar (Rashtriya Jansambhavna Party), Loknath Mahto (BJP), Durga Charan Prasad (Jharkhand Vikas Morcha - Prajatantrik), Salma Khatoon (Trinamool), Deepak Kumar Das (People's Party of India - Secular), Roshan Lal Choudhary (AJSU Party), Mithlesh Kumar Mahto (Communist Party of India or CPI), Amba Prasad (Congress) and Suraj Kumar (Bahujan Samaj Party or BSP).
Barkagaon Assembly constituency is part of the Hazaribagh Lok Sabha segment which is currently represented by Jayant Sinha of the BJP.
Results for the Barkagaon Assembly elections will be announced on December 23.
In 2009 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Yogendra Saw of the Congress defeated Loknath Mahto of the BJP in Barkagaon Assembly constituency.
