Dumri assembly seat is a part of the central region of Jharkhand. 90 per cent population in Dumri is rural and rest 10 per cent population is urban.
In this assembly seat, 10.97 per cent population belongs to scheduled castes (SC), and 10.68 per cent population belong to scheduled tribes (ST).
The assembly election for Dumri seat will be held in the fourth phase, on December 16, 2019.
The counting of votes will be held on December 23, 2019.
Dumri Assembly seat has been a stronghold of JMM with the party retaining this seat in the last three elections.
The sitting MLA from Dumri seat is Jagarnath Mahto from JMM who received 77,984 votes in the 2014 Assembly elections. His closest opponent was Lalchand Mahto, who fought the election on a ticket from BJP and received 45,503 votes.
In 2009 Jharkhand Assembly Elections, Jagarnath Mahto was elected from Dumri seat on a ticket from JMM. He received 33,960 votes. His closest opponent was Damodar Prasad Mahto who had fought on a ticket from JD(U) and received 20,292 votes.
For the 2019 Assembly Elections in Jharkhand, JMM has fielded the sitting MLA Jagarnath Mahto, BJP has fielded Pradeep Kumar Sahu, AJSUP has fielded Yashoda Devi, and CPI has fielded Ganesh Prasad Mahato.
