Bermo assembly seat is a part of the central region of Jharkhand. 36 per cent population in Bermo is rural and 64 per cent is urban.
In this assembly seat, 13.79 per cent population belongs to scheduled castes (SC), and 15.80 per cent population belong to scheduled tribes (ST).
The assembly election for Bermo seat was held in the third phase, on December 12, 2019.
The counting of votes will be held on December 23, 2019.
The sitting MLA from Bermo seat is Yogeshwar Mahto who was elected to the legislative assembly on a ticket from BJP. He received 80,489 votes. His closest opponent was Rajendra Prasad Singh, who fought the election on a ticket from INC and received 67,876 votes.
In 2009 Jharkhand Assembly Elections, Rajendra Prasad Singh was elected from Bermo seat on a ticket from INC. He received 47,744 votes. His closest opponent was Yogeshwar Mahto who had fought on a ticket from BJP and received 41,133 votes.
For the 2019 Assembly Elections in Jharkhand, BJP has fielded the sitting MLA Yogeshwar Mahto, AJSUP has fielded Kashi Nath Singh, and INC has fielded Rajendra Prasad Singh.
