Potka, a Scheduled Tribes (ST) reserved constituency, voted on December 7, during the second phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections 2019.
In 2014 elections, Menaka Sardar of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) defeated Sanjib Sardar of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
Menaka Sardar got 68,191 votes while her nearest opponent secured 61,485 votes.
For the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections in this constituency, candidates in the fray include Sanjib Sardar (JMM), Ishwar Soren (Janata Dal - United), Naresh Kumar Murmu (Jharkhand Vikas Morcha - Prajatantrik), Menka Sardar (BJP), Bulu Rani Singh (AJSU Party), Jeetrai Hansda (Jharkhand People's Party), Bir Singh Deogam (Right to Recall Party) and Diku Vesar (Socialist Unity Centre Of India - Communist).
Potka Assembly constituency is part of the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha segment which is currently represented by Bidyut Baran Mahato of the BJP.
Result for the Potka Assembly elections will be announced on December 23.
In 2009 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Menaka Sardar of BJP defeated Subodh Singh Sardar of Congress in Potka Assembly constituency.
