Jharkhand's Barhi Assembly constituency went to polls on December 12, during the third phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections 2019.
In the 2014 elections, Manoj Kumar Yadav of the Congress defeated Umashankar Akela of the BJP. Mr Yadav had got 57,818 votes while his nearest opponent secured 50,733 votes.
For the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections in Barhi, candidates contesting include Manoj Kumar Yadav (BJP), Sanjay Kumar Mehta (Aam Aadmi Party), Rajeev Ranjan (Trinamool), Ramanuj Kumar (Communist Party of India or CPI), Bhuneshwar Yadav (Samajwadi Party), Chhathi Devi (Rashtriya Mahila Party), Shiv Kumar Ram (Peoples Party of India - Democratic), Digamber Bhuiya (Hindustani Awam Morcha - Secular), Md. Jamal Uddin (Bahujan Samaj Party), Arbind Kumar (Jharkhand Vikas Morcha - Prajatantrik) and Umashankar Akela (Congress).
Barhi Assembly constituency is part of the Hazaribagh Lok Sabha segment which is currently represented by Jayant Sinha of the BJP.
Results for the Barhi Assembly elections will be announced on December 23.
In 2009 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Umashankar Akela of the BJP defeated Manoj Yadav of the Congress in Barhi Assembly constituency.
