Latehar (ST), a reserved constituency, voted on November 30, during the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly election 2019.
In the 2014 elections, Prakash Ram of the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha - Prajatantrik defeated Brajmohan Ram of the BJP. Mr Ram got 71,189 votes while his nearest opponent secured 44,402 votes.
For the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections in Latehar, candidates in the fray include Prakash Ram (BJP), Aman Kumar Bhogta (Jharkhand Vikas Morcha - Prajatantrik), Ramesh Ganjhu (Bahujan Samaj Party or BSP), Tulsi Ram (Hindustani Awam Morcha - Secular), Baidyanath Ram (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha or JMM) and Fulchand Ganjhu (Janata Dal - United).
Latehar Assembly constituency is part of the Chatra Lok Sabha segment which is currently represented by Sunil Kumar Singh of the BJP.
Result for the Latehar Assembly election will be announced on December 23.
In 2009 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Baidyanath Ram of BJP defeated Prakash Ram of Rashtriya Janata Dal or RJD in Latehar Assembly constituency.
