Bokaro assembly seat is a part of the central region of Jharkhand. 31 per cent population in Bokaro is rural and 69 per cent population is urban. In this assembly seat, 6.08 per cent population belong to scheduled castes (SC), and 3.37 per cent population belong to scheduled tribes (ST).
The assembly election for Bokaro seat was held in the fourth phase, on December 16, 2019.
The counting of votes will be held on December 23, 2019.
The sitting MLA from Bokaro seat is Biranchi Narayan from BJP who received 1,14,321 votes in the 2014 Assembly elections. His closest opponent was Samaresh Singh, who fought the election as an independent candidate and received 41,678 votes.
In 2009 Jharkhand Assembly Elections, Samaresh Singh was elected from Bokaro seat on a ticket from JVM. He received 53,757 votes. His closest opponent was Md. Izrail Ansari who had fought on a ticket from INC and received 37,452 votes.
For the 2019 Assembly Elections in Jharkhand, BJP has fielded the sitting MLA Biranchi Narayan, INC has fielded Shweta Singh, AJSUP has fielded Rajendra Mahato, and JD(U) has fielded Ashok Chaudhary.
