A day after Asha Bhosle's death, veteran actor Mumtaz reshared the viral video from a family function where the duo can be seen grooving to their epic song Koi Sehri Babu from the film Loafer (1973).

"Today, I feel a deep sense of loss. Asha Bhosle ji was not just a legendary voice, she was the soul behind so many of my most cherished on-screen moments. Her songs gave life, charm, and emotion to my performances in a way that words can never fully express," Mumtaz wrote.

Helen visited Asha Bhosle's residence to pay final tribute to the singing legend, whose voice gave the veteran actor several chartbusters such as Aa Jaane Jaane, O Haseena Zulfon Wali, Piya Tu Ab To Aaja, Ye Mera Dil, and Aaj Ki Raat Koi Aane Ko Hai.

Asha Bhosle's funeral procession is moving through the busy streets of Mumbai towards the Shivaji Park crematorium, with a heavy security detail and a sea of fans in tow. Admirers are raising slogans such as "Jab tak suraj-chaand rahega, Asha Tai ka naam rahega" and "Asha Tai amar rahe".

Singer Amit Kumar penned an emotional note on social media, remembering Asha Bhosle as "the one who taught me how to deliver behind a mic" after his father, superstar singer Kishore Kumar.

Actor Ashish Chowdhry recalled working with the legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle in the song Na Marte Hum from the album Aap Ki Asha.

Actor-singer Kunal Ganjawalla recently reminisced about the time he had spent with the legendary singer Asha Bhosle, adding how she was upset when he quit non-vegetarian food.

He said, "Back then, I used to eat non-vegetarian food, and she loved feeding me, fish, prawns, chicken, mutton. But when I quit non-veg, I met her at the airport in 2012. She said, 'I'm cooking, you must come!' When I told her I had stopped eating non-veg, she got upset and jokingly said, "What will I feed you now? A lion doesn't eat grass!"

Music composer Shamir Tandon paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary singer Asha Bhosle, reminiscing about his final recording with her for an unreleased track penned by Prasoon Joshi. He also shared pictures from the sets, hailing her as an "iron lady" and a true symbol of women's empowerment.

Shaan remembered legendary singer Asha Bhosle. Sharing a carousel post featuring some precious memories that he spent with the veteran singer, Shaan penned a heartfelt tribute.

Actress Tabu, Sachin Tendulkar, and his wife Anjali were among those who paid their last respects to Asha Bhosle at her residence. They were also seen consoling the singer's granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle.

Just weeks before her death, Asha Bhosle's voice appeared in a new song on Gorillaz's India-inspired album The Mountain (Parvat). She described the song's meaning to her and how it symbolised her life's journey.

A wave of grief swept through Mumbai as contestants from Indian Idol Season 16 gathered to pay their last respects to legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, who died at the age of 92, on April 12.

Asha Bhosle made her acting debut with the 2013 Hindi film Mai at the age of 78. In the film, she played the role of a woman who has Alzheimer's disease. Actor Padmini Kolhapure, who also starred in the film, shared clip from the film on her Instagram remembering her aunt. Mai was the only movie that Asha Bhosle acted in.

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray arrived with his family to pay last respects to Asha Bhosle.

In a statement, Asha Bhosle's family asked admirers wishing to pay last respects to the legendary singer at her residence Casa Grande Lower Parel between 11.30 am and 2.30 pm today citing space constraints at the Shivaji Park crematorium. Veteran actor Shabana Azmi shared the message on her Instagram page.

Singer Falguni Pathak shared a series of never-before-seen video with Asha Bhosle, whom she called her childhood inspiration.

"Grateful to hear the words of wisdom from Ashaji. You are my inspiration since childhood. Your voice is music, emotion, celebration, love and life. Music will never be the same again. Will miss you, but your voice will continue to live in my heart forever," she wrote on Instagram.

As part of the official protocol for such a cremation, the body is often draped in the National Flag as it is brought out for homage, and the flag is handed over to the family just before the last rites.

A police or military contingent usually performs a gun salute -- 21 guns in some cases, depending on the status of the personality. Dignitaries such as the Chief Minister and other ministers attend the funeral on behalf of the government.

In an interview with ANI, Ramesh Sippy called Asha Bhosle's death a "deeply painful loss". He called the late singer a "wonderful" person who will be remembered by her timeless music.

"The passing away of Asha ji is indeed a painful moment. Asha Ji was absolutely marvellous, both as a singer and as a person. Her passing away is like a century passing away. She's been part of history, will always be part of music history... Whatever she sang will always be remembered and will continue to be remembered through her songs. She was also a wonderful person," said Ramesh Sippy.

As tributes continue to pour in from across the country following the death of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, veteran lyricist Sameer Anjaan fondly remembered the 'Melody Queen' and called her an "institution" in Indian music.

Speaking to ANI, Sameer recalled Asha Bhosle's unmatched contribution to singing and said her life was completely devoted to music. Remembering her as a once-in-a-generation artist, he said, "Asha ji was not just a singer; she was an institution. There is hardly any language in which she has not sung songs. Her only purpose in life was singing nothing but singing."

He further spoke about the way she lived her life with grace, passion, and dedication. Calling both Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar truly special, he added, "One can learn how to live life from Asha ji. There can be no one like Asha ji and Lata Mangeshkar they are truly one of a kind."

Shashi Tharoor paid tribute to Asha Bhosle via his X handle and wrote, "Deeply saddened by the passing of @AshaBhosle, whose extraordinary voice defined generations of Indian music. For Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi, Asha Bhosle's death is not just the loss of a colleague but of a close friend and great storyteller.

During COVID-19, Akhtar and Azmi were staying in Khandala, while Bhosle was a short distance away in Lonavala with her family.

“In Khandala, I discovered one thing: No matter how much you praise her singing, she won’t be as happy with it, but if you tell her the food is very good—that the 'kebab' or 'dal' is 'kamal ke bane hai'—then Asha ji would be most happy. It gave her the ultimate happiness," Akhtar told PTI in an interview.

The lyricist said Bhosle was a great cook, and they would often visit her place for food, or she would come to their house.

"I've eaten 'puran poli,' but she was proud of her kebabs. She cooked them herself, and she cooked very well—you don’t get that taste anywhere else," Akhtar told PTI.

Alia Bhatt also paid tribute to Asha Bhosle via her Instagram handle. She wrote, "A voice that lives forever. Asha ji."

Taking to X, Yogi Adityanath wrote, "The demise of the melody empress of the Indian music world, the great maestro of notes, 'Padma Vibhushan' Asha Bhosle ji, is extremely heartbreaking and an irreplaceable loss to the world of art."

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle died on April 12. Amitabh Bachchan was spotted outside her house as he arrived to pay his last respects.

Speaking to reporters during an event in Kolkata, Asha Bhosle said that while music reality shows help discover talented singers, they do not necessarily produce playback artists. 

She said, "I think good singers come out from those shows but not playback singers. I think reality shows give them a platform to do stage shows but not playback singing.

"It takes a lot to become a playback singer. Playback singers are a different lot and their brains function in a different way," she told the media. Read the full story here.

Asha Bhosle's body will be taken to her Mumbai home from the Breach Candy Hospital ahead of tomorrow's funeral.

Recalling her meeting with Asha Bhosle at age 19, Kajol wrote, “I remember going for one of her recordings for a song that never released. I was 19 and she was amazing! On April 12, the voice that entertained generations of music lovers fell silent. Asha Bhosle died on Sunday at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital following multiple organ failure.

Asha Bhosle was born on September 8, 1933 in Sangli, Maharashtra, to reknowned singer Deenanath Mangeshkar and Shevanti Mangeshkar. Asha Bhosle was the third child of the couple, younger to melody queen Lata Mangeshkar and Meena Khadikar, and elder to Usha Mangeshkar and Hridayanath Mangeshkar. Read the full story here.

The first song that Asha Bhosle recorded was Chala Chala Nav Bala in the Marathi film Majha Bala in 1943, when she was just 10 years old.

Recalling how she was trembling, she said, "When I recorded my first song, I was 10 years old. I had to sing this song standing in front of the mic and I was trembling at that time, because I did not know anything then. My father had recorded his songs. Doctor Prateet Samdani confirmed that the veteran singer had been dealing with multiple health issues and died due to organ failure.

Asha Bhosle was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital. The news of Asha Bhosle's hospitalisation was confirmed by her granddaughter and singer Zanai Bhosle.

Zanai Bhosle said that Asha Bhosle has been admitted to hospital following "extreme exhaustion and a chest infection".

Mamata Banerjee took to X and wrote, "Profoundly saddened by the demise of the great musical genius Asha Bhosle. She has been an inspiring and mesmerising singer who reigned over our hearts for generations."

She further added, "She sang many Bengali songs too, and is incredibly popular in Bengal also. We could confer our highest civilian award 'Bangabibhushan' on her in 2018. My heartfelt condolences to her family and fraternity and millions of her fans all over the world."

Actor Sudhanshu Pandey penned an emotional note on Instagram remembering Asha Bhosle.
