About Shahdol

After the by-poll elections of 2016, Gyan Singh from Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP had won the seat from Shahdol Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh. He received 4,81,398 votes. His closest opponent was Himadri Dalbir Singh from Indian National Congress who received 4,21,015 votes.

In 2014 general elections, Dalpat Singh Paraste from BJP had won the Lok Sabha seat from Shahdol constituency. He received 5,25,419 votes. His closest opponent was Rajesh Nandini Singh from INC. He received 2,84,118 votes.

In 2009 general elections, Rajesh Nandini Singh from Indian National Congress had won the seat. He won 2,63,434 votes. His opponent was Narendra Singh Maravi from BJP. He received 2,50,019 votes.

In 1971 general elections, Dhan Shah Pradhan an independent candidate had won the seat. In 1977 general elections Dalpat Singh Paraste from Bharatiya Lok Dal had won the Shahdol constituency.

In 1980 and 1984 general elections, Dalbir Singh from INC had won the seat. In 1989 general elections, Dalpat Singh Paraste from Janata Dal had won the seat from Shahdol Lok Sabha constituency. In 1991 general elections, Dalbir Singh from INC had won the Shahdol constituency.

From 1996 to 2004, BJP had had a strong hold over the Shahdol Lok Sabha constituency. In 1996 and 1998 general elections, Gyan Singh from BJP had won the seat. In 1999 and 2004 general elections, Dalpat Singh Paraste from BJP had won the Shahdol Lok Sabha constituency.

In 2019 general elections, there are 13 candidates contesting elections including 5 independent candidates. They are Bahan Keshkali Kol from Communist Party of India, Pramila Singh from Indian National Congress, Mohdal Singh Pav from Bahujan Samaj Party, Himadri Singh from Bharatiya Janata Party, Kamla Prasad Baiga from Bharatiya Shakti Chetna Party, Meera Singh from Chhattisgarh Vikas Ganga Rashtriya Party, Lakshyapat Singh from Peoples Party of India and Vimal Singh Korche from Gondwana Gantantra Party. The five independent candidates are Gokul Singh, Jhamaklal, Dugra Mosi, Narayan Singh Uike and Manna Singh.
