The Hoshangabad Lok Sabha constituency consists of assembly Narsingpur, Tendukheda, Gadarwara, Seoni- Malwa, Hoshangabad, Sohapur amd Udaipura. While this Lok Sabha seat is reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled caste category, Pipariya is only the one belonging to that category.

The Hoshangabad constituency is one of the 29 Lok Sabha constituencies in Madhya Pradesh.

Hoshangabad Lok Sabha constituency went to polls on May 06 in the fifth phase of 2019 general election. The poll results will be released on May 23.

A total of 8,79,892 electorates have been registered in this constituency this time among which are 4, 61,962 male voters, 4,17,882 female voters and 48 third gender voters.

Two-time MP and the incumbent parliamentarian from the Hosangabad seat, Uday Pratap Singh, will contest for the seat this time as well. Uday Pratap Singh has represented the constituency twice as a BJP candidate. In 2014 he had defeated INC fielded by Devendra Patel with a margin of 3, 89,960 votes.

BJP's Uday Pratap Singh received 6, 69,128 votes and INC candidate Devendra Patel received 2,79,168 votes. There was a huge margin of votes between the two candidates from the constituency of Hoshangabad. The BJP MP is the member of the committee on Papers Laid on the Table. He is also the member of the standing committee in the Railways. He is also the consultative committee member in the Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

From 1989 to 1999, BJP candidate Sartaj Singh won the elections consecutively for five terms.

A total of eleven candidates are in fray for the Hoshangabad seat this time, among which are four independent candidates.

Among key contestants are M.P. Choudhary from BSP and Shailendra Diwan Chandarbhan Singh from INC.
