The 2019 General Election for the Chhindwara seat was held in the fourth phase. Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency has seven assembly segments. These include Junnardeo, Amarwara, Chaurai, Sausar, Chhindwara, Parasia and Pandhurna.

About Chhindwara

In 2014 general elections, Kamal Nath from Indian National Congress had won from the Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh. He received 5,59,755 votes. His closest opponent was Choudhary Chandrabhan Kuber Singh from Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP. He received 4,43,218 votes.

In 2009 general elections, Kamal Nath from INC was elected from Chhindwara constituency. He received 4,09,736 votes. His opponent was Marot Rao Khavase from BJP. He received 2,88,516 votes.

Chhindwara has been a Congress stronghold with a BJP candidate winning only one election held from 1971 to 2014.

In 1971 and 1977 general elections, Gargi Shankar Mishra from INC had won the Chhindwara constituency. In the elections held from 1980 to 1991, Kamal Nath from INC was elected for four terms.

In 1996 general elections, Alka Nath from INC won the seat. After the By-poll elections of 1997, Sundar Lal Patwa from BJP had won the seat. From 1998 general elections to 2014 general elections, Kamal Nath from INC was elected from the Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency.

In 2019 general elections, there are 14 candidates contesting for the Chhindwara seat. They are Nakul Kamal Nath from Indian National Congress, Nathansaha Kawreti from Bharatiya Janata Party, Gyaneshwar Gajbhiye from Bahujan Samaj Party, Manmohan Shah Bhatti from Akhil Bharatiya Gondwana Party, Advocate Rajkumar Saryam from Gondwana Gantantra Party, Rajesh Tantrik from Ahimsa Samaj Party and M.P Vishwakarma from Rashtriya Aamjan Party. There are 7 independent candidates - Uikey Ramdas, Jogilal Irpachi, Dinesh Singh Uikey, Dhaniram Yaduwanshi, Rameshwar Dhurve, Subhash Shukla and Hemendra Gohar.
