About Dewas

In 2019 Lok Sabha Elections there are six candidates contesting from Dewas which includes two independent candidate. The key contestants are Prahlad Singh Tipanya from Indian National Congress, Badrilal "Akela" from BSPand Mahendra Singh Solanky from BJP.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Manohar Untwal was elected from Dewas in Madhya Pradesh on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He won the Dewas seat with 6,65,646 votes by a margin of 2,60,313 votes defeating Sajjan Singh Verma of the Indian National Congress, who received 4,05,333 votes.

In 2009, INC candidate Sajjan Singh Verma won the this elections with 3,76,421 votes defeating BJP's candidate Thavarchand Gehlot who received 3,60,964 votes. The overall margin between the two candidates was 15,457 votes.

There are eight assembly seats under the Dewas constituency which includes Shajapur, Shujalpur, Dewas, Kalapipal and Hatpipliya. While this Lok Sabha seat is reserved for scheduled caste category includes Ashta, Agar and Sonkatch assembly is reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled caste category.
