About Dhar

In the Dhar constituency, there are total seven candidates which includes one independent candidate. The key contestants are Girwal Dinesh from Indian National Congress, Gulsingh Ramsingh Kawache from BSP and Chattarsingh Darbar from BJP.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Savitri Thakur was elected from Dhar in Madhya Pradesh on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He won the Dhar seat with votes by a margin of 1,04.328 votes defeating Umang Singhar of the Indian National Congress, who received 4,54,059 votes.

In 2009, INC candidate Gajendra Singh Rajukhedi won the elections with 3,02,660 votes defeating BJPs candidate Mukam Singh Kirade who received 2,99,999 votes. The overall margin between the two candidates was 2661 votes.

There are eight assembly seats under the Dhar constituency which includes Dhar, Badnawar and Dr Ambedkar Nagar- Mhow.

While this Lok Sabha seat is reserved for scheduled tribe category includes Sardarpur, Gandhwani, Kukshi, Manawar, Dharampuri assembly is reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled tribe category.
