FBI raid found Al-Qaida DVDs at Rana's house
NDTV Correspondent, Saturday December 5, 2009, Chicago

David Headley is now under investigation after the CBI connection that he was plotting an attack on Israeli tourists in Pushkar. Meanwhile, in Chicago, federal prosecutors are pushing to make sure that Headley's co-accused Tahawwur Rana is not released on bail. Rana's bail hearing has been set for December 15.

In the predominantly Indian and Pakistani neighborhood of Chicago, Tahawwur Rana is considered to be a respected businessman.

At least, that is what his lawyer is trying to prove in court.

"We presented some witnesses and they have all testified to Rana's honesty, good character and peacefulness," said Tahawwur Rana's Attorney Patrick Blegen.

Though Pakistani born Canadian national Tahawwur Rana lives and works in Chicago, he owns several businesses in the state of Illinois. The Prosecution says it's these businesses that bankrolled David Hedley's activities - a charge Rana's attorney denies.

After his arrest in October, Rana's properties were raided by the FBI, who found two DVDs produced by Al-Qaida's media wing in his home.

While one of the discs contained a speech by Osama bin Laden, the other one - titled "Bombing of Denmark Embassy" - featured a computer-simulation of the 2008 attack on the Danish embassy in Islamabad.

In court, Attorney Blegan dismissed the DVDs as evidence, saying his client had denounced them when they were given to him by the co-accused David Headley.

"I have the Communist manifesto at home. That does not make me a communist," he added.

The initial complaint filed by the US government does not mention any ties Rana has to the Mumbai attacks. While Indian investigators say Rana and Headley were part of the larger LeT conspiracy behind 26/11, a confirmation of this may only come when FBI officials share the information gleaned from interrogating the duo with India.

it seems all have accepted that incresing competition in drama-industry is the only way to decrease corruption spreading legs from ahmedabad. I again confirm all of you that there would be significant efforts from naxals in ahmedabad to get most favour from media in next few weeks, because many leaders are planning to shift their home to foreign and create proxy-leaders. so,only way to control naxals of ahmedabad is to stop giving them favour in next few-weeks. I am son of the main-leader and visiting london for studies,so most of drama is situated around my visit,my family and their friend(drama-leaders) will also transfer to abroad soon. authorities are requested to keep all of this in proper-check. even a small mistake from now can make things difficult for you in future.
