Amid the ongoing buzz around Dhurandhar 2, social media users have been having a field day after X went down right around the film’s climax time.

A user on X shared their early reaction to Dhurandhar 2, calling it an intense and gripping watch despite its violent tone. “It’s INTERVAL… #DhurandharTheRevenge is one of THE MOST VIOLENT films I have ever seen. A few scenes are too DISTURBING!” they wrote, adding that the film still manages to keep audiences invested.

According to Bar and Bench, the Madras High Court issued an ad interim injunction on Wednesday, barring internet service providers and cable TV operators from illegally airing Dhurandhar 2 before its March 19 release.

With packed houses for the paid previews, the success of part one still buzzing, and its release coinciding with Eid and Gudi Padwa holidays, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is set for a bumper opening, with industry insiders and trade pundits looking at the Aditya Dhar film setting box office records.

The Ranveer Singh-starrer, which comes soon after Dhurandhar, releases in cinemas on Thursday, and more than 15 lakh tickets have already been sold. This includes the paid previews, which begin from 5.30 pm on Wednesday.

"At PVR INOX, we have not seen this sort of advance booking even pre-COVID-19... The excitement is phenomenal; there's no precedent. It looks like the film is going to take a massive opening. We are looking at a strong finish to March and a strong start to April," Kamal Gianchandani, chief business planning & strategy, PVR INOX Limited, told PTI.

"I hope it breaks the record of Dhurandhar Part 1 and hope it turns out to be the first film to cross Rs 1,000 crore nett box office in Hindi, besides the contribution from dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. I hope that's an addition to Rs 1,000 crore," he added.

A viewer has flagged a frustrating experience at a cinema hall during the paid previews of Dhurandhar 2.

Taking to X, the user described the situation as “absolute chaos” at the multiplex, claiming that shows were running behind schedule. According to the post, their screening at Cinepolis Nexus Westend in Pune, which was slated to begin at 5 PM, had not started even by 5:30 PM, leaving audiences visibly annoyed.

The viewer expressed their irritation over the lack of updates or clarity from the theatre staff.

Amid ongoing screening disruptions, Allu Arjun's Allu Cinemas has issued a fresh update for Dhurandhar 2, informing audiences about a change in its exhibition format.

During the paid previews, they displayed the message: "Due to a delay in receiving the Dolby Vision files, we are unable to screen the film in Dolby Vision format. The current screening will be in 4K projection with Dolby Atmos sound."

Amid confusion over show cancellations and delays, filmmaker Aditya Dhar has addressed audiences with an official statement regarding the release of Dhurandhar 2.

Taking to X, Dhar shared that the film holds deep emotional value for the team. He wrote, "To our dear Dhurandhar family, Dhurandhar is not just a film for us - it is something we have lived with, nurtured, and dreamed of sharing with each and every one of you, together, at the same moment, in every language."

"Most of our Hindi shows across India are running as scheduled from 5 pm onwards. All of our Tamil and Telugu shows will commence from 9 pm onwards. However due to unforeseen technical difficulties, our Malayalam and Kannada shows will begin from tomorrow morning," Dhar added.

"If the dubbed version you have tickets for is not currently playing at your cinema, you will have an option for refund or to watch the Hindi version with subtitles Instead. We truly apologise for the inconvenience. Your love for this film means the world to us, and we cannot wait to share it with you. Team Jio Studios and B62 Studios," the director concluded.

In Delhi NCR, Dhurandhar 2 is facing last-minute exhibition issues.

All IMAX bookings have reportedly been taken offline, while several cinema chains including Miraj, Movietime, Wave, Cinepolis, Moviemax and certain INOX properties are said to be cancelling their 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM shows. 

Claims further suggest that while major PVR chains are still trying to proceed as scheduled, smaller PVR multiplexes are also cancelling screenings.

Dhurandhar 2 is set to premiere on JioHotstar following its theatrical run. The first part released on Netflix on January 30, 2026.

Elvin Marcus, the manager of MovieMax Laserplex hall at Gulshan One 29 in Noida, told NDTV that the delay in the 5 pm paid preview was caused by last-minute edits to the film following cuts and modifications suggested by the Censor Board. The show is expected to begin around 6 pm.

Shows at Gaiety Galaxy in Mumbai have been cancelled amid ongoing delays, leaving crowds frustrated. Theatre staff are reportedly suggesting audiences to opt for the 9 pm show as technical issues continue to disrupt operations across venues.

A huge crowd has gathered outside Gaiety Galaxy in Bandra as the shows are running late. The 4:45 pm screening has still not started. Delays are being reported everywhere because theatres must first download the film and then receive the KDM (Key Delivery Message), which grants permission to play it, leaving audiences waiting impatiently.

The much-anticipated release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge has hit an unexpected hurdle in the southern markets.

While the movie has begun rolling out paid previews in parts of the country, audiences in Tamil Nadu and other southern regions have been left disappointed after several theatres cancelled their non-Hindi shows at the last minute.

Cinema chains across key cities cited "non-availability" of content as the primary reason behind the cancellations. This has led to confusion among moviegoers, especially those who had booked tickets for the dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions of the Ranveer Singh-starrer.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar: The Revenge features Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal in key roles.

The makers of Dhurandhar announced the title of the sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, and unveiled its first poster on February 3. The poster featured Ranveer Singh at the centre against a dark, rain-filled backdrop dominated by red tones. 

Unlike Dhurandhar, which was released only in Hindi, the sequel will be released in five languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
