About Sikar

The Sikar Lok Sabha constituency consists of eight assembly segments. These are Lachhmangarh, Sikar, Danta Ramgarh, Khandela, Neem- Ka- Thana, Chomu and Srimadhopur. While this Lok Sabha seat is reserved for scheduled caste category, Dhod assembly is the only reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled caste category.

In Lok Sabha Elections 2019. the key contestants are CPI (M) candidate, Sita Devi from BSP, Subhash Maharia from INC and Sumedhanand Saraswati from BJP.

BJP candidate Sumedhanand Saraswati is the sitting MP from the seat. He is the member of the standing committee on Human Resource Development. He is also the member of the consultative committee in the ministry of Agriculture and also a member in the committee of ethics.

He is also the member of Hindi Salahkar Samiti, Ministry of Human Resource Development.

In 2014 he had defeated INC Pratap Singh Jat with an overall margin of 2,39,196 votes.

In 2014 General elections, the polling percentage was 60.31%.

The total voters for the 2014 elections were 10,65,750.

BJP's Sumedhanand Saraswati received 4,99,428 votes and INC candidate Pratap Singh Jat received 2,60,232 votes.

A total of twelve candidates are in fray for the seat this time. There is no independent candidate in Sikar constituency.

In 2009, INC's candidate Mahadev Singh defeated BJP candidate Subhash Maharia with a overall margin of 1,49,426 votes.

From 1998 to 2004, Subhash Maharia was the winner during the elections in the particular period.
