About Ganganagar

The Ganganagar Lok Sabha constituency consists of eight assembly segments. These are Sadulshahar, Sri Ganganagar, Karanpur, Suratgarh, Raisinghnagar, Sangaria, Hanumangarh and Pilibanga.

The Ganganagar constituency is one of the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies in Rajasthan.

Ganganagar Lok Sabha constituency went to polls on May 6 in the fifth phase of 2019 General Election. The poll results will be released on May 23.

BJP MP Nihal Chand is the sitting parliamentarian from the constituency of Ganganagar, Nihal Chand, will contest for the seat this time as well. Nihal Chand has represented the constituency ones as a BJP candidate. In 2014 he had defeated INC fielded Master Bhanwarlal Meghwal with a margin of 2,91,741 votes.

In 2014 General elections, the polling percentage was 73.17%. The total male voters were 6,81,063 and female voters were 5,75,743 in 2014.

BJP's Nihal Chand received 6,58,130 votes and INC candidate Master Bhanwarlal Meghwal received 3, 66, 389 votes. There was a huge margin of votes between the two candidates from the constituency of Ganganagar. The BJP MP is the member of the standing committee on Human Resource Development.

He was also the former minister of State in the Ministry of Panchayat Raj and also before this he was the minister of state in the ministry of chemicals and fertilizers.

From 1999 to 2009, he won the elections consecutively for two terms. In 2009, INC candidate Bharat Ram Meghwal won the elections.

A total of nine candidates are in fray for the Ganganagar seat this time, among which five are independent candidates.

Among key contestants are Lunarama from BSP, Bharat Ram Meghwal from INC and Ravtaram from CPI.
