About Pali

The Pali Lok Sabha constituency in Rajasthan will go to polls on April 29 in the fourth phase of 2019 general election. Pali is among 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Rajasthan to vote on April 29, the rest will vote in the fifth phase on May 6. A total of 2146572 voters will exercise their franchise from the Pali constituency this time. The voting will be held at 2236 polling stations. The Pali Lok Sabha constituency consists of Sojat, Pali, Marwar Junction, Bali, Sumerpur, Osian, Bhopalgarh and Bilara assembly seats. The Sojat, Bhopalgarh and Bilara seats are reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled caste category.

The voter turnout in Pali constituency in 2014 election was 57.69%.

Bharatiya Janata Party, which had regained the seat overthrowing Congress party in 2014 election, is fielding the sitting MP PP Chaudhary this time. Meanwhile, Congress had reconquered the Pali seat in 2009, after losing it to BJP for two terms-1999 and 2004.

Congress has pitted the former MP from Pali constituency, Badri Ram Jakhar against the incumbent MP. Badri Ram Jakhar was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from the Pali constituency. Last time the party had given the ticket to Munni Devi Godara.

In 2014 general election, the Congress party's vote count was much lesser than the margin by which the BJP won the seat.

PP Chaudhary brought victory to the party in 2014 by garnering 399039 votes.

Among other contestants are-- Kanhaiyalal Vaishnav (ShivSena), Jagdish Chandra (Independent), Hemant Kumar Singhvi (Independent), Laxman Kumar (Proutist Sarva Samaj) and Dr. Ramlal Mohbarsha (Indian Indira Congress (R)).

The poll results will be announced on May 23.
