While most of the attention has been on the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's death, the crash also claimed the lives of four other people.
It is difficult to describe the trauma and tension that the families of those on board that chopper which crashed had to bear. Their loves one had been missing for over 24 hours and the end to the wait was even bitter.
Dr Subramanyam, IAS, a senior bureaucrat and right hand man of Dr Rajasekhara Reddy, dutifully accompanied his chief minister to take stock of the drought situation in three districts. His son and daughter all of 8 and 6 can't come to terms with the fact that their father has returned home dead.
"It is unfortunate that they took off despite knowing that the weather condition is so bad. We cannot bear this loss," says his sister-in-law Shobana.
John Wesley, the chief security officer who took charge just three months ago, is survived by two children. Those who knew him well, vouch he would have done his duty of trying to save the chief minister till the end.
"The officer was sincere and very committed," says Karunakar Reddy.
The families of group captain SK Bhatia and M S Reddy mourned silently too.
But there is one common question that family members of all the victims of the crash, including relatives of the chief minister are asking. If it was known the weather was bad, on whose instruction did the chopper take off? And what exactly caused the death of their loved ones?
