Family blames PM's visit for relative's death
NDTV Correspondent, Tuesday November 3, 2009, New Delhi

His family claimed that the prime minister's visit to Chandigarh caused his death, but hospital authorities claim that's not true.

Sumit Prakash Verma was being taken by ambulance to the hospital at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research or PGIMER. The Prime Minister was attending a function here, and Varma's family accused the PM's security of holding up their ambulance for an hour. Varma's wife insisted that he was alive when they arrived at the hospital.

However, a spokesperson for the hospital (the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research or PGIMER) denies this, saying, "The patient was brought dead by his attendants to PGI medical Emergency at about 12 o clock with a history of end stage kidney disease. Today, from 10 am to 1 pm, 40 new patients have been examined in the emergency medical OPD, and all the medical facilities in PGI have been functioning normally. During VIP visits we keep our facilities open...our emergency gate was open."

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has added, "The PMO is saddened at the death of a patient at the PGIMER Chandigarh today during the visit of Prime Minister. A full report has been asked for."

Hail Democracy!!! We the people vote these politicians to power. We the people pay for these politicians, Bureaucrats, police from our hard earned money by paying our taxes. And what is the job assigned to them? They are paid to Serve the Nation. We are the nation. We the people make up the nation. Their only responsibility is to SERVE the nation i.e. Serve Us the people of India. Once they come to power / attain position, they forget their responsibility. They forget that they are Servants to the society and Not Masters to our society. Their actions portray them as DICTATORS in the guise of democratically elected representatives. They trample on our dignity, increase our helplessness. They behave like We the people are their slaves. Why do these politicians need so much of protection? Who are these politicians afraid of? Are they afraid of the same people who voted them to power? SHAME ON YOU LOT!!! Nay Shame on US!!! If someone fools you once ... shame on him. If someone fools you twice ... Shame on You. So we should be ashamed of our selves, for reposing our faith in people who are corrupt, exploit their position for their benefit, who stoop to levels that even animals would be ashamed of. As long as we have these kind of corrupt, criminal, good for nothing, (etc.,) politicians / Bureaucrats, police rule over us, incidents like these will keep repeating. So no use wasting you ink / web space.
