Mumbai belongs to India, says 'Marathi' Sachin
NDTV Correspondent, Friday November 13, 2009, Mumbai
In a rebuff to the "Marathi Manoos" plank of Shiv Sena and Raj Thackeray's MNS, batting maestro and iconic Maharashtrian Sachin Tendulkar on Friday said Mumbai is for all Indians.

"Mumbai belongs to India. That is how I look at it. And I am a Maharashtrian and I am extremely proud of that but I am an Indian first," said Tendulkar responding to a specific query at a media meet in Mumbai on the eve of completing 20 years in international cricket.

Shiv Sena and MNS have often played the "Marathi Manoos" card in a bid to attract votes. Raj Thackeray's fledgling party had even unleashed an anti-north Indian campaign inviting criticism.

Cheers to Sachin. We should wipe out the divisive mentality from our so-called politicians minds. We shouldn't let them get away with it. I wish the centre wouldn't take some actions against anyone making such remarks as BT did. Again, keep it up Sachin. We won't let another divide in our country. Jai Hind !!

sachin as legend respected bal thakrey as politician respected but media as a pillar of democracy not agreed the news or the views shown are one sided from 1 angle what bal thakrey quoted was sachin should know the 105 people who lost there lives for bringing mumbai into Maharashtra. this issue is more concern with the localytes if mumbai belongs to india is supported by rest of India accept Maharashtra whats the use the issue is not to whom mumbai belongs but about the 105 people who gave their precious life
